Biography

Lian Gogali is a peace activist and author from Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. She is the founder of Institute Mosintuwu, which she established in 2011 after being inspired by the stories of various women who remained committed to acts of peace amid the conflict and inter-religious violence in her home community of Poso. For her work she received the Coexist Prize from the Coexist Foundation in 2012, became an Ashoka Fellow, and was awarded Indonesian Women of Change from the US Embassy in 2015. Lian has also published The Poso Conflict: Voices of Women and Children Towards Reconciliation and Remembrance (2009).. Gogali has also published The Poso Conflict: Voices of Women and Children Towards Reconciliation and Remembrance (2009). She lives in Poso with her daughter Sophie in a bamboo house.
